A novel octopus

Step by step guide

  • Step 1

Assemble your kit and caboodle from the ‘What You Need’ list. Now find an old book that nobody wants to read. If it’s about the sea that would be fantastic, but not essential. Now carefully cut three or four pages out, then glue them to the board. Trim the edges so they are flush with the board. This will be the literary background for your octopus.
  • Step 2

Now draw the outline of your octopus. Start with a big round octo-head, then get all swirly with wavy lines that you will turn into his tentacles. Don’t forget to draw a circle for his eye.
  • Step 3

Now fill in your eight-legged (or are they arms?) friend’s outline using your black acrylic, mixed with a little water so it’s easy to apply. Now that’s what we call a really novel use for an old book that will look absolutely kraken wherever you share it.
